PESHAWAR, Oct 27 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi has written a letter to Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif, urging the resumption of both domestic and international flights of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) from Peshawar to facilitate passengers, overseas Pakistanis, and the business community of the province.
In his letter, Governor Kundi appreciated the minister’s efforts for the revival and strengthening of PIA’s international operations and called for immediate action to restore daily domestic flights between Peshawar and Karachi.
He noted that the current demand for this route remains high while only a single private airline operates, causing inconvenience to passengers and traders due to limited seats and high fares.
The Governor further emphasized the importance of restoring international flights from Peshawar, particularly to Gulf and Middle Eastern destinations, where a large number of expatriates from KP are employed.
He said that the suspension of these flights has caused hardships for overseas Pakistanis, entrepreneurs, and their families who rely on direct and affordable connectivity with their homeland.
Kundi expressed hope that under the leadership of the federal government, PIA would once again regain its past glory and command the skies as it did during its golden decades.
The letter has also been forwarded to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PIA for necessary action.
