PESHAWAR, Oct 29 (APP):The Board of the Kumrat Development Authority (KDA) held an important meeting at the office of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Archaeology and Museums, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, chaired by Secretary Tourism Dr. Abdul Samad.
The meeting was attended by Board Chairman Nasrullah Khan, Director KDA Zameen Khan, Member National Assembly Sahibzada Sibghatullah, and Member Provincial Assembly Malik Gul Ibrahim Khan.
The Director KDA briefed participants on the progress made so far and the ongoing efforts to address administrative and technical challenges, including staff recruitment, identification of a suitable site for the Authority’s office, and restoration of infrastructure damaged by recent floods.
Secretary Dr. Abdul Samad directed that construction of new hotels and tourism infrastructure in Kumrat and surrounding areas must strictly adhere to approved building codes to preserve the region’s natural beauty and ecological balance.
He also instructed officials to expedite the establishment of the KDA office and accelerate the hiring of required staff.
Recommendations regarding the provision of essential equipment and vehicles for the Authority were also presented.
The Secretary assured full support from the Tourism Department in providing necessary resources and technical assistance to help develop Kumrat as a modern, sustainable, and eco-friendly tourist destination.
The meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment to advancing tourism in line with the vision of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi and Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to promote sustainable tourism, create local employment opportunities, and provide international-standard facilities across the province.
A comprehensive strategy is already underway to promote Kumrat and other tourist sites, focusing on infrastructure development, environmental protection, and community-based tourism initiatives.
