“This achievement is profoundly historic, as Pakistan has won in the Digital Government & Citizen Services category after 14 years, since the inception of the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards in 2001,” shares Dr. Akif Khan, Managing Director Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPTIB).
DASTAK is a digital citizen service platform and app designed by KP Information Technology Board (KPITB) to provide seamless online access for various government services,” informs Dr. Akif who received the APICTA Award in Taiwan.
For more than a decade, this category has been dominated by advanced digital governments and now in 2025, Pakistan proudly stands at the top, Atif added.
APICTA evaluates Digital Government solutions through a rigorous international multi-jury process, assessing how effectively a solution addresses critical governance challenges, the depth of innovation and technology adoption (including AI, automation, and interoperability), the measurable impact on citizens through improved access, reduced corruption windows, time savings, and simplified processes, as well as scalability across government, efficiency gains, strengthened accountability, and long-term sustainability, security, and institutional robustness.
DASTAK excelled across all these dimensions, demonstrating a world-class model for citizen-centric service delivery, he added.
Dr. Akif appreciated his team in KPITB, whose dedication, innovation, and relentless hard work made this global victory possible.
The Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) Awards, established in 2001, are recognized as one of the most prestigious ICT awards across the Asia-Pacific region, often referred to as the “Oscars of ICT”.
With participation from leading economies, APICTA sets global benchmarks for excellence through a highly competitive, multi-jury evaluation involving global experts, industry leaders, and government technologists.
Winning an APICTA Award positions a project among the top-tier digital innovations in the entire region, signifying excellence, scalability, and transformative impact.
