PESHAWAR, Aug 24 (APP):Mardan City Mayor Himayatullah Mayar said that upon the completion of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project (KPCIP), the living standards of citizens will improve.
While chairing a meeting regarding the ongoing KPCIP project, he expressed that the project includes the establishment of a Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP), Green Urban Spaces (GUS), and a Scientific Sanitary Landfill site (SLF) for fourteen Urban Councils in Mardan. An allocated budget of 8.5 billion rupees is being used for the construction of the STP, which is currently in progress. Additionally, the GUS project will be carried out with a budget of 58 million rupees, and the SLF will be established in Mardan with an allocated budget of 3.5 billion rupees.
During the meeting, Engineer Muhammad Khalil Akbar, Chief Engineer of the Cities Implementation Unit in Mardan, briefed the participants. Present at the meeting were Tehsil Municipal Officer Mardan Sarfaraz Khan, Tehsil Officer Finance Ayaz, and Tehsil Officer Infrastructure Haroon Khan.
The City Mayor was informed that the KPCIP project aims to establish a sewerage treatment plant, green urban spaces, and a modern scientific sanitary landfill site in Mardan. The sanitary landfill site is designed to efficiently manage municipal waste, while the sewerage treatment plant will address issues related to wastewater management. The green urban spaces will offer environmental benefits and enhance the aesthetics of Mardan city.
Under this project, municipal waste will be collected from every household in Mardan city and re-purposed for other environmentally friendly purposes. The Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) project will connect the domestic sewerage connections of six urban union councils to the STP for treatment and reuse for irrigation purposes.
The green urban spaces project will address issues related to environmental pollution and beautification. Mayor Himayatullah Mayar expressed satisfaction with the ongoing development projects of KPCIP, stating that these projects will be completed in consultation with all stakeholders.
He emphasized that all available resources will be utilized to provide the best sanitation services for the citizens of Mardan, and he underscored that improved service delivery to the citizens is their top priority.
