PESHAWAR, Nov 07 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government, Mina Khan Afridi, has directed the formulation of a comprehensive reform strategy to enhance the administrative, financial, and developmental performance of local bodies across the province.
Chairing a review meeting of the Local Council Board and the Directorate General of Local Government, the minister reviewed the overall performance, service delivery mechanisms, and administrative affairs of the department.
The meeting was attended by Secretary Local Government Aslam Saqib Raza, Secretary Local Council Board, Director General Local Government, and senior officials from various Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs). Officials briefed the minister on different administrative, financial, and operational matters concerning the local government system.
Speaking on the occasion, Mina Khan Afridi said that the Local Government Department plays a key role in delivering essential civic services and ensuring good governance at the grassroots level.
He stressed that transparency, efficiency, and public trust must remain the guiding principles of local government operations.
The minister instructed concerned authorities to develop and implement a comprehensive reform plan aimed at improving governance structures, enhancing accountability, and expediting developmental projects within local bodies.
Afridi emphasized that strengthening the role of TMAs is essential for effective service delivery and addressing public needs promptly.
He directed all local bodies to submit regular performance reports to ensure close monitoring of progress and timely evaluation of reforms.
Reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment, Mina Khan Afridi said that every possible measure will be taken to make local bodies active, autonomous, and people-friendly.
He urged officers and employees of the Local Government Department to perform their duties with dedication, honesty, and a spirit of public service.
