KP police reaffirm commitment to women’s rights, justice

PESHAWAR, Jun 22 (APP):A delegation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women (KPCSW), led by Chairperson Dr. Samira Shams, on Monday met Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed at the Central Police Office to discuss measures for strengthening women’s protection and ensuring prompt justice for victims.
During the meeting, both sides agreed to further enhance cooperation between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and KPCSW to improve women’s safety, justice and empowerment.
Discussions focused on preventing crimes against women, providing legal and social support to victims, and strengthening institutional coordination.
Special attention was given to cases involving violence against women, timely investigations, and the establishment of an effective mechanism for addressing women-related issues and complaints through designated focal persons for District Committees on the Status of Women (DCSWs).
IGP Zulfiqar Hameed reaffirmed the police department’s commitment to protecting women, promoting gender equality and ensuring strict legal action against those involved in crimes against women.
Additional IGP Internal Accountability Dr. Muhammad Akhtar Abbas and AIG Gender Anila Naz were also present on the occasion.
