KP Minister announces major anti-narcotics measures in Buner

PESHAWAR, Nov 24 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan on Monday announced a series of major decisions to strengthen anti-narcotics operations in district Buner.
The decisions were made during a district-level Kuli Kachehri held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, attended by district administration, police, Excise officials, welfare organizations and civil society representatives, said a press release issued here.
A key decision of the meeting was the establishment of a new Excise Sub-Station Office in Buner, which will be staffed with an Additional SHO and supporting personnel.
The new office is intended to enhance local monitoring and significantly improve the district’s capacity to conduct anti-narcotics operations.
The minister also directed the Excise Department, police and district administration to adopt a unified and coordinated approach against drug trafficking.
He emphasized that joint action, improved intelligence sharing and close institutional cooperation would be central to the government’s strategy for eliminating narcotics from the region.
Civil society and welfare organizations will be formally included in awareness and preventive initiatives, with the minister underscoring the importance of community engagement in combating drug abuse.
He reiterated the provincial government’s resolve to pursue strict action against drug traffickers and reaffirmed the leadership’s commitment to achieving a drug-free Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Officials from the police, Excise Department and social organizations expressed full support for the measures and pledged continued cooperation to protect the youth and society from the harmful effects of narcotics.
