PESHAWAR, Oct 07 (APP):All registered organizations of literature, arts and culture of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have formally announced the establishment of the ‘Coordination Council for Literature, Art and Culture (CCLAC)’, said a press release issued here on Tuesday.
The aim of the council is to promote arts and culture in the province, resolve the problems of artistes and writers and ensure effective representation in cultural policy-making.
This council has been established as a result of the long-standing desire and continuous insistence of the Culture Department of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that all registered artist associations of the province unite their voices on a unified platform.
In the past, different organizations used to communicate with the government at their own levels, which made the process of representation and policy-making ineffective.
In this context, all registered organizations formed a joint forum through mutual consultation so that coordination, suggestions, and decisions could be made collectively with the future government through an effective representative body.
Now all registered organizations related to art, literature and culture have been united under the umbrella of a single council, which has been officially named the ‘Coordination Council for Literature, Art and Culture (CCLAC)’.
For the council, Professor Sajjad Ali Orakzai, Chairman Pakistan Directors, Producers, Writers and Artistes Association has been nominated as the convener, and Chairman Artistes Action Foundation, Dr. Niaz Ali Khan as the deputy convener while Chairman Pakhtunkhwa Literary and Cultural Association Dr. Masoodur Rehman Abid as coordination secretary.
Besides, Ms. Bushra Farrukh, Chairperson of Karwan-e-Hawa Literary Society, Tariq Jamal, Senior Vice Chairman of Artistes Action Foundation and Anisur Rahman, President of Artistes Equity, Ahmed Sajjad, President of Artistes Welfare Association Zoom (Awaaz), also attended the meeting.
The participants of the meeting agreed that all the literary and cultural organizations of the province will work under a common strategy to effectively highlight the problems of artistes, writers and cultural workers and adopt a coordinated strategy to protect their rights at the official level.
According to the structure of the council, the heads of all the organizations and their deputies are part of the executive committee.
