PESHAWAR, Jul 10 (APP):Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah announced that an action plan has been developed under the Good Governance Roadmap to strengthen the province’s immunization program.
Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur officially inaugurated the plan, marking the first initiative under the newly launched governance strategy.
The program aims to boost child vaccination rates from the current 55% to 90% within the next two years.
Under the plan, more than 1.4 million children under the age of two will be vaccinated annually, protecting them against 12 preventable diseases.
To ensure effective implementation, the government will enhance the capacity of vaccination teams and increase the transport budget from Rs. 80 million to Rs. 448 million. Over 1,800 vaccination centers will be fully operationalized, each equipped with trained staff, cold chain facilities, and a steady supply of vaccines.
Special vaccination drives will target urban and rural areas with low immunization rates. A robust monitoring system, including independent reviews every six months, will track progress. Additionally, a public survey will assess attitudes toward vaccination, guiding targeted awareness campaigns to improve community participation.
This initiative reflects the provincial government’s commitment to improving healthcare services under its Good Governance Roadmap.
