PESHAWAR, Oct 19 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa health department has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the alleged dengue-related deaths of two patients at a hospital in Mardan.
The directive, issued by Secretary of Health Shahidullah Khan, follows reports from the Integrated Disease Surveillance and Response System and growing media attention on the cases.
Secretary of Health stated that due to a history of deaths from diseases like dengue and COVID-19, investigating both cases was necessary.
The District Health Officer (DHO) of Mardan will lead the probe, assisted by fellows from the Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP). The team will examine the patients’ medical histories, verify the clinical management they received, and review all relevant factors to ensure standard dengue treatment protocols were followed.
The department has demanded a transparent investigation and a prompt submission of the report. It has assured the public that addressing their concerns is a priority and that updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
