KP govt to introduce new youth-focused policies: Taj Tarand

HAVELIAN, Dec 16 (APP): Adviser to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sports and Youth Affairs, Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand on Tuesday said that the provincial government is utilizing all available resources to empower youth and will soon introduce new policies in line with the opinions and needs of young people.
He was speaking at the closing ceremony of the Sports Week at Abbottabad University of Science and Technology (AUST). The week-long event witnessed enthusiastic participation by students, with competitions held in cricket, football, badminton and other sports.
The adviser also watched the cricket match played between the Management Sciences and Microbiology teams.
Addressing the gathering, he said such sports activities should be organized every semester, as sports not only serve as a healthy form of exercise but also play a key role in building a healthy society.
Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand said that the government would ensure the provision of sports facilities in areas where such amenities are lacking, while deficiencies in existing facilities would also be addressed on a priority basis.
He added that the youth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were making their mark in various sports.
He further said that besides cricket, other sports would also be promoted across the province and that the government would continue its full patronage of youth and sports at all levels.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the adviser announced prize money of Rs 200,000 for the winning team and Rs 100,000 for the runners-up.
