During the event, DG Habibullah Arif and Carlo Alberto Pinelli (recipient of the Nishan-e-Imtiaz) signed the MoU. Addressing the ceremony, Provincial Finance Advisor Muzammil Aslam paid tribute to the Tourism Authority for organizing the event on such a historic occasion.
He announced that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is sponsoring the program for the first time. The initiative will not only provide training to the mountaineers but also support them in summiting the peak.
He further announced a two-year royalty fee waiver for mountaineers, making it easier for climbers from around the world to attempt the highest peaks in Pakistan, particularly those in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He emphasized that KP is a province known for its hospitality and noted that over 20 million tourists visited the region last year.
Carlo Alberto Pinelli expressed his gratitude to the KP government for the opportunity and announced that training sessions would be held not only in Chitral but also in Swat. Mountain Wilderness International is a global organization that provides mountaineering training internationally.
