PESHAWAR, Nov 21 (APP): Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shohab Ali Shah, has announced that the provincial government has initiated work to introduce the light gauge structure model in public-sector construction under its good governance roadmap.
The initiative aims to ensure that public welfare projects are completed at lower costs and within shorter timelines.
Presiding over a high-level meeting here Friday, the Chief Secretary said that the adoption of modern construction techniques was essential for improving service delivery and accelerating development across the province.
He added that the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar had presented various options and proposals as part of the initial planning process.
According to officials, the light gauge structure model will be applied to public-interest projects in key sectors including health, education, sports, and housing.
The model is expected to streamline construction, reduce material costs, and enhance structural efficiency.
The Chief Secretary directed concerned departments to further evaluate the proposed designs and ensure that the new system aligns with provincial requirements and international safety standards.
The initiative is being viewed as a major step toward modernizing the construction sector and improving the pace of development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
