KP govt plans nutrition drive for students

PESHAWAR, Oct 28 (APP):Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah, chaired a meeting to review the proposed School Meal Program aimed at improving nutrition, health, and school retention among primary school children.
The meeting was attended by the Secretaries of Elementary and Secondary Education and Finance Departments. A detailed presentation was given, outlining the objectives and implementation mechanism of the initiative, supported by data from the Allah Walay Trust.’
According to the presentation, the program envisions food preparation in a central kitchen and its distribution to schools across the province.
Officials noted that the initiative could significantly enhance students’ nutritional standards, physical health, and eyesight while encouraging higher enrollment and reducing dropout rates.
The Chief Secretary reiterated that education remains one of the top priorities of the provincial government and a key component of its good governance road-map.
He appreciated the efforts of the Allah Walay Trust and stressed the importance of addressing the challenge of out-of-school children through innovative and sustainable measures.
