PESHAWAR, Jan 12 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to launch a large-scale solar energy project in the merged tribal districts, aiming to provide free solar power to hundreds of thousands of residents.
The project will be implemented in Khyber, Kurram, Bajaur, Orakzai, Mohmand, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (KP Energy Development Organization) has completed all preparatory work and planning for the initiative.
Under the scheme, approximately 120,000 households will receive free solar systems. Each 2-kilowatt solar setup will include three solar panels, an inverter, and other essential equipment to meet the basic energy needs of families.
According to official sources, the total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 13 billion. District-wise quotas will be allocated based on population size.
The initiative is aimed not only at addressing energy shortages in the merged districts but also at improving living standards and providing long-term relief to local communities.
