PESHAWAR, Jul 13 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Faisal Karim Kundi here Saturday underscored the need for improvement in health and education sectors and bringing workable and goal oriented reforms in existing systems of universities, medical colleges and hospitals on solid basis in the province.
He was addressing a representative delegation of education experts led by Dr Aasia Khan and comprising Dr Qibla Ayaz, Dr Jamil Chitrali, Dr Abdul Rehman Khattak, Dr Sajjad Khan and others here at Governor House.
The delegation presented various suggestions for improvment of education sectors especially administration and financial affairs. The delegation was of the view that the systems of hospitals and universities in Sindh province in public interest was better than the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The delegation informed about a formal coordination/connection cell setup at Governor Secretariat Sindh for speedy disposal of matters pertaining to the public sector universities of the Sindh province.
Dr Qibla Ayaz requested for review on Education Policy 2003 and establishment of a university for tribal youth either in Peshawar or Islamabad.
Tue delegation informed the Governor about financial, education and administrative powers of the universties and its distribution among federation, province and Higher Education Commission. They suggested a separate higher education commission in the province to oversee matters of universties at provincial level.
The Governor was also informed about appointment and promotion of the faculty at medical colleges, loopholes in admission system and legal lacuna.
On this occasion, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa underlined the need of maintaining highest standard in education imperative to enhance youth abilities.
He said that a letter has been written to vice chancellors of public sector universities to inform about use of properties of all universities and income obtained from it besides other resources.
This would help know about universties that allways requested for grants are using its resources in correct way or otherwise.
Faisal Karim Kundi said provision of best healthcare and education services was included in responsibilities of the Government and stressed the need for collective efforts for betterment of education and health sectors by putting it on modern lines.
