PESHAWAR, Nov 30 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, accompanied by businessman and former Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen, visited the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium (Arbab Niaz) in Peshawar on Sunday to review arrangements for hosting cricket matches in the near future.
During the visit, sports organiser and promoter Shahid Khan Shinwari briefed the Governor and Ali Tareen on the historic significance of the stadium and its longstanding role in promoting sports activities in the region.
The Governor and Ali Tareen inspected various sections of the stadium and termed it suitable for Pakistan Super League as well as international cricket fixtures. They said the Pakistan Cricket Board should once again schedule matches in Peshawar as it did in the past.
Ali Tareen described the Stadium as an ideal venue for both PSL and international games, saying that hosting matches in the heart of Peshawar would provide much-needed entertainment to the local population and cricket fans.
He added that bringing major cricket events to the provincial capital would help revive sports culture and further strengthen the atmosphere of peace in the region.
