PESHAWAR, Nov 14 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Authority has recovered hundreds of kilogram meat of underage cattle and substandard spices during raids conducted in various areas here on Friday.
According to spokesperson for the authority, raids were conducted on a butcher shop in Chargano Chowk Peshawar. During the inspection, the team recovered meat of underage animals that was unfit for consumption. The business owner was taken into custody and case has been registered against him.
In another raid, the Authority’s team raided a spice production unit where over 255 kilograms of adulterated spices were recovered. The unit was found using bran, husk, low-quality colors and other harmful substances. All adulterated materials were confiscated and legal action under the Food Safety Act has been started against the factory owner.
Director General KP Food Authority, Wasif Saeed, lauded the performance of food authority teams and warned strict action against those manufacturing and selling substandard materials to public.
