PESHAWAR, Jan 24 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Muhammad Sohail Afridi Saturday directed that all necessary groundwork for Peshawar-D.I.Khan Motorway be completed by February 10.
During a high-level meeting, the KP CM reviewed progress of several projects, including Dir Motorway and Swat Expressway Phase-II.
He said that provincial government would fund Peshawar-D.I.Khan Motorway using its own resources. He further envisioned project as a “Green Motorway,” emphasizing that environmental sustainability must be integrated into construction process. Additionally, he set a deadline of January 31 for commencement of civil work on Swat Expressway Phase-II.
To ensure these mega-projects are not derailed by political changes, Chief Minister revealed plans for new legislation. This legal framework is intended to protect funding and execution of public interest projects, ensuring they are completed regardless of which political party is in power. “There is no room for delay,” the CM stated, adding that he would personally supervise progress to ensure that all the timelines were met.
The provincial government views this expanding road network as a catalyst for economic growth. By connecting remote regions, new motorways are expected to boost trade, create jobs, and strengthen the local economy.
CM Afridi further said the government is prioritizing allocation of resources to these projects because they serve as backbone for future business and development activities across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
