PESHAWAR, Dec 12 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Friday chaired a provincial cabinet meeting where key decisions were taken regarding the province’s financial rights, governance reforms, and development planning.
The Chief Minister welcomed the formation of a sub-committee in the National Finance Commission (NFC) to address provincial rights, terming it a positive step.
He said the committee headed by the Provincial Finance Advisor will present detailed recommendations to the federal government regarding outstanding dues owed to KP.
Afridi noted that the merged districts were promised an annual allocation of Rs100 billion; however, only Rs168 billion has been released over seven years, leaving Rs532 billion still unpaid.
He directed the Finance Department to issue weekly reminders to the federal government regarding pending NHP and NFC arrears and instructed all provincial departments to do the same concerning their respective outstanding dues.
Emphasizing transparent governance, the CM told newly appointed secretaries, who attended the meeting, that their appointments were made strictly on merit.
He urged them to uphold merit in administrative decisions and warned that any complaints of corruption would result in immediate legal action.
Afridi also directed all departments to submit proposals for the 2026–27 Annual Development Programme (ADP) by mid-February.
He stressed that public welfare must remain the top priority in all development initiatives and that projects should be designed to maximize facilitation for citizens.
