PESHAWAR, Jun 13 (APP): Referring to the education sector, the government increased the elementary and secondary education budget by 11 with allocation of Rs363 billion. Special education emergency has bee announced to improve literacy rates and reduce out-of-school children, with Rs. 5 billion earmarked for this critical initiative.

The government has also prioritized upgrading infrastructure in 32,500 public schools, allocating Rs. 5.9 billion for essential facilities, classroom repairs, educational materials, and co-curricular activities including sports and training programs.

He said Rs50 billion for upcoming fiscal year against Rs36 billion last year allocated for higher education. The government decided to increase budget of universities from Rs 3 billion to Rs 10 billion while Rs. 3.5 billion earmarked for construction on five new colleges.

The provincial government has decided to allocate Rs 2772 million to convert government colleges to centers of applied science and technology while scholarship endowment fund has been increased by Rs 1224 million in budget for the year 2025-26. Rs. 55.39 billion earmarked for local government department and rural development in 2025-26 budget.

Rs. 6159 million to be spent in northern districts, Rs. 3300 million in southern districts, Rs. 5300 million in central districts and Rs. 2950 million in merged districts. The government would spend Rs. 2 billion for construction of public parks in various districts of the province while Rs. 800 million allocated for construction of slaughter houses in Peshawar, Charsadda, Swat, Haripur and Dera Ismail Khan.

He said Rs. 17 billion has been earmarked for dairy development and livestock and that Rs. 500 would be spent on breeding projects of horses in four districts of the province while Rs. one billion would be utilized to increase production of cattle.

The government has allocated Rs. one billion for construction of veterinary centers in merged districts and Rs. 300 million for poverty alleviation and support local economy in erstwhile tribal areas.

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has allocated Rs 158 billion for police and to maintain peace in the province. The allocation has been increased by 27 percent as compared to previous year allocation that was Rs. 124 billion.

Rs 13 billion has been earmarked for procurement of ammunition, vehicles and other needed equipment from the allocation of Rs. 158 billion and that Command and Control Centre to be set for Safe City Project and its extension to three more districts announced. The government has also increase to enhance infrastructure of police and counter terrorism department in merged districts.
