PESHAWAR, Jun 16 (APP):The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has unveiled its development budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, allocating Rs. 88 billion for 810 new development projects across the province.
This brings the total number of development schemes in KP to 2,159, with an overall development budget of Rs. 323 billion.
According to official documents, Rs. 235 billion has been earmarked for 1,349 ongoing projects, while Rs. 88 billion will fund the 810 new schemes. The development budget covers a wide range of sectors including agriculture, education, health, energy, road infrastructure, tourism, water, industry, sports, environment, and urban development.
According to the sector-wise scenes schedule in agriculture sector 18 new and 28 ongoing schemes are included while in health 93 new and 89 ongoing schemes are included. In education sector, 43 new and 116 ongoing schemes will be completed and in energy and power sectors, 18 new and 41 ongoing schemes are included.
In road infrastructure, 221 new and 362 ongoing schemes while in tourism sector 23 new and 37 ongoing schemes and in sports sector, 19 new and 32 ongoing schemes would be completed.
The document said that in urban development and communication sector, 18 new and 70 ongoing schemes, while in water projects, 69 new and 151 ongoing schemes are included for completion.
In addition, several projects have also been planned under departments such as Religious Affairs, Board of Revenue, Food, Labour, Livestock, Law, Home Affairs, and Relief & Rehabilitation.
The government has focused the development budget on improving the province’s core infrastructure, enhancing public services, fostering rural development, creating employment opportunities, and promoting environmental protection.
The government believes that this budget could play a significant role in boosting the province’s economy, improving public welfare, and setting a path for sustainable development.
