DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Jan 20 (APP):Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Agriculture, Major (Retd) Muhammad Sajjad has visited the Food Technology Lab at the Agricultural Research Institute (ARI) Dera Ismail Khan.
During the visit, head of the Food Technology Department Dr. Shehzada Arshad Saleem Sadozai briefed the provincial minister about remarkable advancements in the field of food technology and hybrid solar tunnel technology.
Dr. Shehzada Arshad Saleem Sadozai, while highlighting the significance of this technology, said this advanced technology not only enhances the efficiency and quality of date processing and drying but also serves as an excellent energy-saving method, ensuring that the quality of dates meets international standards.
The provincial minister termed this technology a revolutionary breakthrough in the agricultural sector, stating that it has the potential to secure a prominent position for Pakistani dates in the international market while also playing a vital role in stabilizing the economy.
He emphasized that the combination of energy efficiency and superior quality presents a rare opportunity for the date industry.
During the visit, ARI Director Abdul Qayyum Khan elaborated on the latest strategies for date cultivation, yield improvement, and disease protection.
The minister inspected the value-added products made from dates and other fruits displayed at the exhibition. These products included premium-quality dates, dried fruits, and processed items that meet international standards.
Expressing great satisfaction with the innovative presentation of these products, the minister remarked that their production would not only benefit the local economy but also enhance the global recognition of Pakistan’s agricultural sector.
