ISLAMABAD, Dec 10 (APP):Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police’s Shams Colony Police team took quick action after a video of a minor boy being tortured in Shams Colony went viral.
Police arrested the accused named Majid and shifted the injured child to PIMS, where his medical checkup has been completed.
An official told APP on Wednesday that the case was registered on the complaint of the child’s mother, Sughran Bibi, who stated that her 13-year-old son Ahmad had been working at a furniture polishing shop owned by the accused. She was alerted by neighbours that the boy had allegedly been severely tortured and kept locked inside a room.
When the mother reached the spot, she found the child in critical condition and immediately informed the police. The Shams Colony police team rescued the minor and moved him to the hospital for treatment.
A police official said the accused Majid was arrested from the scene, and the medico-legal report has confirmed that while torture marks were present, no evidence of sexual assault was found. The motive behind the violence is being further investigated.
He said the complainant has expressed satisfaction with the police investigation, clarifying that she did not accuse anyone of sexual assault and that her son only reported physical torture. Rumours circulating in the neighbourhood regarding alleged abuse were not supported by the medical report.
He said the incident has caused anger among local residents, who have demanded strict action against those involved in violence against children.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP)  Qazi Ali Raza took immediate notice of the viral video and appreciated the swift action taken by the police team. The SSP reiterated that violence against children and women will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Further investigation is underway.
