KOHAT, Feb 23 (APP): Kohat Cantonment Police on Monday arrested a suspect for allegedly displaying firearms on social media platforms, police confirmed on Sunday. The move comes amid heightened vigilance against activities that may incite fear or disrupt public order; consequently, authorities acted swiftly upon receiving credible information about the online posts.
According to police sources, the accused, identified as Shehbaz, had been repeatedly uploading videos showcasing weapons online. Acting immediately, Station House Officer Ayatullah launched a focused operation and apprehended the suspect without delay. Furthermore, officials stated that digital evidence had been secured to support the case, while investigations are being pursued from multiple angles.
During the operation, police recovered a rifle, 30 cartridges, and a 30-bore pistol from the suspect’s possession. A formal case has been registered at the Cantonment Police Station; moreover, the seized weapons were taken into custody for forensic examination. Authorities described the recovery as significant, noting that public display of arms can create unnecessary panic and encourage unlawful behavior.
Police officials emphasized that such provocative and unlawful actions not only violate existing laws but also pose a serious threat to community safety. Therefore, they reaffirmed their firm commitment to maintaining peace and stability across the district through consistent and decisive measures against individuals involved in illegal activities.
