PESHAWAR, Jan 07 (APP):A police constable was martyred by militants in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday.
According to police, the incident took place in Amal Khel area of Domel tehsil, where Khawarij abducted and later killed police constable, Naveed Akram. The martyred cop was a resident of Amal Khel, Domel and was serving in sub-division Wazir Bannu.
Police said that Naveed Akram was kidnapped by the Khawarij from a football ground in his native village. He had reportedly received threats in the past, warning him to leave his job. Despite the threats, he continued to perform his duties.
Local elders also held negotiations with the Khawarij for the release of the abducted cop, but the talks failed. The militants later killed Naveed Akram, leaving the area in grief and shock.
Investigations are underway, while security forces have launched efforts to trace those involved in the incident.
