LAHORE, Sep 24 (APP): Caretaker Federal Minister for Human Rights Khalil George paid a visit to former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain of Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-i-Azam) at his residence on Sunday.
The purpose of the visit was to inquire about Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain’s health and convey condolences on the death anniversary of his father, Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi. During the meeting, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain stressed the importance of addressing increasing intolerance and societal unrest in the nation.
In a media talk following the meeting, Khalil George clarified that the discussions had been solely related to health and condolences, with no political matters discussed. Chaudhry Salik Hussain, the son of Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, added that there had been no talks regarding electoral alliances or seat adjustments with any political party, including the Pakistan People’s Party, for the upcoming elections. However, he hinted that such possibilities could be considered in the future.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain also praised the Election Commission for its decision to announce elections at the end of January, avoiding specifying an exact date to prevent criticism and confusion stemming from unforeseen circumstances. He urged political parties to focus on combating uncontrollable inflation and rising prices instead of getting entangled in mutual differences.
