Kashmiris ‘Owners of Pakistan’; PML-N set for Two-Thirds majority in AJK: Rana Sanaullah
BAGH, Aug 08 (APP):Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan on Saturday described Kashmiris as “owners of Pakistan”, enjoying equal rights and opportunities across the country, and expressed confidence that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would form the next Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government with a two-thirds majority.
Addressing a large election rally organised in support of PML-N candidate Raja Faisal Azad from LA-14 Dhir Kot West, Bagh, ahead of the third phase of the AJK Legislative Assembly elections scheduled for August 10, Rana Sanaullah said Pakistan and Kashmir shared an inseparable bond that no power could weaken.
When you raise the slogan ‘Hum Pakistani Hain, Pakistan Hamara Hai, believe me, 250 million Pakistanis feel from their hearts that Pakistan does not merely belong to Kashmiris; Kashmiris are owners of Pakistan, he said.
Rana Sanaullah said Kashmiris were working, doing business and serving in different sectors with equal rights across Pakistan, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Lahore and Multan, while Kashmiri traders had a particularly prominent presence in Faisalabad.
He said Kashmiris also had significant representation in the Pakistan Armed Forces and had stood shoulder to shoulder with the country in its defence.
The freedom struggle of Jammu and Kashmir is a movement for the completion of Pakistan. Pakistan is incomplete without Kashmir. Kashmir is Pakistan and Pakistan is Kashmir, he said.
Rana Sanaullah said India was trying to create misunderstandings between Pakistan and Kashmiris after failing to achieve its objectives through direct confrontation, but such attempts would never succeed.
Turning to the elections, he said results of the first two phases demonstrated public confidence in PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
He said PML-N had secured 24 directly elected members so far and expected six reserved seats, taking its strength to 30 members.
We need only six more members for a two-thirds majority, he said, expressing confidence that PML-N candidates would further strengthen the party’s position in the upcoming polling.
The next phase of polling is scheduled for August 10 in Bagh and Haveli, with Rana Sanaullah urging voters to turn out in large numbers and support PML-N candidates.
He said PML-N would form the AJK government within the coming weeks with a two-thirds majority, adding that Nawaz Sharif would nominate the next AJK prime minister from among the party’s elected members and work with the new government to launch a new era of development.
Highlighting federal support, Rana Sanaullah said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s government had approved a Rs 23 billion special package for AJK and provided wheat subsidy to facilitate the people.
He said the prime minister had also approved five Daanish Schools for AJK, while PML-N intended to take forward the public welfare and development model being pursued in Punjab.
Referring to the Action Committee, he said dialogue and consultation would be among the first priorities of the next PML-N government for resolving public issues.
He said the government had engaged the committee over its 38-point charter of demands, while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had assured serious consideration of legitimate concerns.
Rana Sanaullah said “99 percent” of people associated with the Action Committee were patriotic Kashmiris and Pakistanis, adding that any elements seeking to divide Kashmiris or create mistrust between them and Pakistan would be exposed and defeated.
He maintained that major development projects in AJK had historically been undertaken when PML-N was in power both in Pakistan and Azad Kashmir, and pledged to revive that development momentum.
Rana Sanaullah urged party workers to reach every voter and ensure a strong turnout on August 10 to strengthen PML-N’s representation and pave the way for a stable government and accelerated development in AJK.
Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON Engineer Amir Muqam, PML-N AJK President Shah Ghulam Qadir, party candidates, elected representatives, local leaders and thousands of workers and supporters attended the rally.
