LAHORE, Jul 19 (APP): Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday paid glowing tribute to the unwavering resolve, courage and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people on the occasion of ‘Accession to Pakistan’ Day, observed annually on July 19.
In her message, the CM said that on July 19, 1947, the brave people of Kashmir passed the historic resolution for accession to Pakistan.“This resolution defined the Kashmiri people’s destination, reaffirming their deep-rooted and eternal bond with Pakistan,” she said.
CM Maryam Nawaz added that ‘Accession to Pakistan’ Day is a shining symbol of the collective will of the Kashmiri people, and a clear testament that “Kashmiris’ hearts have always beaten in unison with Pakistan.”
Reflecting on the decades-long struggle, the CM noted, “Despite India’s ongoing tyranny and repression,the people of Kashmir have continued their just struggle for the right to self-determination with remarkable courage and resilience. ”She said the sacrifices made by Kashmiri’s have become a global symbol of freedom, resistance, and sacrifice and deserve the highest respect and recognition.
CM Maryam Nawaz said that even after several decades,the people of Kashmir are still waiting for the fulfillment of their fundamental right to self-determination. She added, “I salute the indomitable spirit, bravery and unmatched determination of our Kashmiri brothers and sisters.”
The CM said that Pakistan will continue to stand by the Kashmiri people at every forum, politically, morally and diplomatically. She added, “Insha’Allah, the day will surely come when the people of Kashmir will be free to decide their own future,in line with their aspirations.”
