LAHORE, Feb 05 (APP): A high security alert has been issued across Punjab, including Lahore, to ensure peace and order on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day.
Punjab Police expressed full solidarity with the Kashmiri people and reiterated support for their right to self-determination. Inspector General of Punjab Police Rao Abdul Karim said that the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir had been struggling for freedom, survival and the right to self-determination for several decades, adding that Punjab Police saluted their steadfast struggle.
He directed police officers to keep a close watch on mischievous and anti-national elements during Kashmir Solidarity Day events.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, more than 10,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed across the province, including Lahore, for security and traffic management. The deployment includes 176 supervisory officers, 231 inspectors, 553 sub-inspectors, 919 assistant sub-inspectors, 200 women police personnel and over 8,000 constables.
The spokesperson said foolproof security arrangements had been made for 378 programs being held across Punjab on Kashmir Solidarity Day, including 279 rallies, 81 seminars and 19 other events. Additional police personnel have been deployed at rallies and A-category programs at sensitive locations.
The IG Punjab also directed that security checks at entry and exit points of cities be further tightened, adding that RPOs, CPOs, DPOs and traffic officers would personally monitor security and traffic arrangements.
