RAWALPINDI, Jan 08 (APP):Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Aamir Khattak on Thursday reviewed progress on the Kachehri Chowk Remodelling Project, expressing satisfaction with the pace of work following a detailed site inspection. He instructed the project team maintain the work pace to complete the project by May this year.
The Commissioner chaired a review meeting at the project location where the Superintending Engineer Punjab Highways gave a comprehensive briefing on physical and financial advancement.
Officials reported that overall construction has reached 42 percent completion. Among the major milestones achieved are full completion of the guide beam at Iftikhar Janjua Underpass, completion of guide beam and piling works at both Kachehri Chowk Underpass and Jinnah Park Underpass, 90 per cent completion of the retaining wall, and rapid ongoing construction of the boundary wall.
Engr Aamir Khattak directed the project team to sustain the current momentum, confirming that the scheme remains on schedule for completion by May 2026.
He made it clear that there will be no compromise on quality and that all works must strictly conform to approved engineering designs and standards.
The Commissioner instructed the relevant departments to strengthen traffic management arrangements during construction in order to minimize public inconvenience and maintain smooth vehicle flow in this busy commercial and administrative area.
He also emphasized the need for greater transparency, regular stakeholder coordination and close inter-departmental liaison to ensure the flagship infrastructure initiative is delivered on time and successfully.
