SARGODHA, Feb 25 (APP):The Sargodha Union of Journalists (Dastoor), during its monthly meeting, chaired by President Ghulam Hasnain Shah, reviewed the body performance, here on Wednesday.
A resolution, presented by Senior Vice President Rai Hassan Mahmood Dhudhi and unanimously approved by the house, authorised a delegation, led by the general secretary to submit a formal request to the Sargodha Press Club for lifting all curbs on media-related events and allowing journalists to perform their duties freely.
The meeting also expressed deep grief over the demise of eminent scholar Dr. Haroon-ur-Rashid Tabassum and offered special prayers for the departed soul, noting that his death had created a vacuum in the city’s intellectual circles that would be felt for a long time.
The forum condemned the suicide attack on the Bhakkar Dajal police check-post, asserting that lasting peace in the country was impossible without total elimination of terrorism.
The meeting was attended by Chief Patron and senior journalist Zulfiqar Hashmi, Information Secretary and senior journalist Tanveer Ahmed Qureshi, and a large number of union members and office-bearers.
