MIRPUR-AJK, Aug 13 (APP):Altaf Hussain Wani, senior vice chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir National Front (JKNF) has extended his congratulations to Pakistan on its Independence Day while urging Kashmiris to observe India’s Independence Day as a “Black Day” to protest India’s continued occupation of Kashmir.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Altaf Hussain Wani expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its unwavering moral, political and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination.
He emphasized that a strong and stable Pakistan is essential for the success of the Kashmiri freedom movement.
Wani expressed confidence that the current Pakistani government will continue to champion the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, a right for which they have made immense sacrifices.
He highlighted the Kashmir issue as an unfinished chapter of the partition of the Indian subcontinent, asserting that a stable and prosperous Pakistan cannot be realized without the liberation of Kashmir from Indian rule.
Meanwhile, JKNF spokesperson Muhammad Haseeb Wani called upon Kashmiris to observe India’s Independence Day as a “Black Day” to denounce India’s forceful occupation of Kashmir.
He labeled India an aggressor, arguing that a country that has deprived millions of Kashmiris of their fundamental rights and stolen their freedom by occupying their homeland has no legitimacy to celebrate Independence Day.
Wani further condemned India’s 2019 annexation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir, characterizing it as a blatant display of neo-colonialism, authoritarianism and pro-fascist tendencies.
