FAISALABAD, Jul 24 (APP):A delegation of Japan International Cooperation Agency called on Managing Director Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Sohail Qadir Cheema at his office on Thursday and discussed progress made so far regarding the JICA-backed Rs 510 million smart water meters project.
The meeting was informed that under the Improvement of Water Supply Business Management Project, smart water meters will be installed in the Gulistan Colony area, which will save drinking water from being wasted and it will also increase WASA’s revenue.
MD WASA Sohail Qadir Cheema clarified that an agreement has been signed for the installation of water smart meters at the homes and now the agency is going to the process of purchasing meters.
He said that the project would be completed by 2027 as per the set timeframe.
He further said that with the support of Japan, steps are being taken regarding the capacity management of WASA Faisalabad and under this project, financial matters, revenue recovery, water conservation and other measures will be taken, which will further improve the performance of the agency.
The JICA delegation presented some suggestions to speed up the pace of work on the project,
Deputy Managing Director Engr Saqib Raza, Deputy Director Sanwal Malik, JICA Consultant Sultan Azam and others were also present on the occasion.
