RAWALPINDI, Jul 23 (APP):A play titled ”Jagte Rehna” was presented in Punjab Arts Council under the patronage of Sar Sabz Punjab, envisioned by CM Maryam Nawaz.
The play aims to highlight climate change and the importance of planting trees. The play is written by Sikandar Ali, while the drama is composed by Mian Fayyaz. The characters of the play included Shahid Iqbal, Lubna Butt, Arshad Bhatti, Ayesha Malik, Jeeva, Waleed Ali and Hanif Kuwaiti.
According to the details former Director PAC Rawalpindi Sajjad Hussain was the chief guest at the event. Former Director Waqar Ahmed and Dy Director DPR also attended the event.
Sajjad Hussain in his address said that climate change is a reality which has been denied for years but now it has become the biggest global challenge of the 21st century. He highlighted the importance of tree plantation and said that trees are a source of oxygen for us and are a means of protection from environmental pollution. Appreciating the awareness campaign launched by Punjab government, he said that the art council would continue contributing in it. He congratulated all the artists for presenting the drama.
Former Director Arts Council Waqar Ahmed underscored the need of continued large-scale campaigns to make people aware of the importance of trees and highlight the associated benefits of plantation. In addition, there is a need to encourage people to protect and plant trees on their own so that Pakistan can achieve the internationally recommended target of 12% forest cover, he said.
A large number of citizens in attendance at the event appreciated the play.
