BAHAWALPUR, Oct 24 (APP):The Islamia University of Bahawalpur’s (IUB) Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) convened the Institutional Quality Circle (IQC) Quarter 1 meeting for the academic year 2025–26 to review progress on quality initiatives and outline strategic directions for institutional development.
The meeting, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran, brought together Deans, the Registrar, Treasurer, Controller of Examinations, and representatives from academic and administrative departments. Director QEC Prof. Dr. Asadullah Madni presented the Action Taken Report on decisions made in the previous meeting.
A key highlight of the session was the presentation of IUB’s first-ever Quality Policy, developed under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Irshad Hussain, Dean Faculty of Education. The IUB Strategic Plan was shared by Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, while Prof. Dr. Asif Naveed Ranjha detailed progress on Internal and External Quality Assurance (IQA/EQA) activities.
Representing ORIC, Dr Muhammad Sajid briefed participants on measures to promote a research-oriented culture across the university. Registrar Muhammad Shaji ur Rehman presented a proposal on hiring Adjunct Faculty to attract international scholars and strengthen IUB’s global academic engagement.
The meeting also reviewed IUB’s performance in national and international rankings and discussed strategies to further enhance institutional visibility, academic excellence, and global competitiveness. Director QEC outlined upcoming quality assurance initiatives, including the Program Review for Effectiveness and Enhancement (PREE), Self-Assessment Reports (SARs) for on-campus and affiliated colleges, and preparation for the Review of Institutional Performance Evaluation (RIPE).
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Kamran stressed adopting the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework from the upcoming semester, terming it a major shift toward a student-centered and results-driven learning environment.
Participants, including Deans and senior officials, expressed full confidence in the Vice Chancellor’s leadership and endorsed ongoing reforms in quality enhancement. It was also decided that a Yearly Performance Report (YPR) — aligned with RIPE standards — would be compiled under the supervision of Deans to ensure institutional alignment and collective ownership.
To strengthen academic planning and stakeholder engagement, the meeting approved the implementation of a Departmental Activity Calendar across all teaching units, assigning defined performance targets to promote systematic planning, effective monitoring, and timely execution. These initiatives aim to drive continuous improvement, enhance student satisfaction, and ensure sustainable institutional growth at IUB.
