ISLAMABAD, Jun 30 (APP):Over 500 traffic police officers will be deployed across the federal capital to ensure smooth vehicular flow during Muharram processions, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (R) Syed Zeeshan Haider announced on Monday while chairing a high-level meeting to review traffic arrangements.
A public relations officer told APP that the meeting was attended by SP Traffic and zonal DSPs, where detailed plans were finalized to maintain uninterrupted traffic movement throughout Muharram-ul-Haram.
CTO Zeeshan said that the zonal DSPs have been issued special directives to implement exceptional traffic management strategies during all processions and gatherings.
CTO said alternative routes must be provided well in advance to divert traffic smoothly and avoid congestion around procession areas.
CTO Zeeshan said citizens should strictly avoid illegal parking near procession routes and use designated parking areas for the safety and convenience of all.
He said strict action will be taken against those found obstructing traffic or parking unlawfully, especially in sensitive zones.
CTO Zeeshan said the ITP officers will perform duties around the clock to ensure uninterrupted mobility and public convenience during Muharram.
He said citizens are urged to stay informed via ITP’s official social media platforms and Radio FM 92.4 for real-time updates and alternate route information.
The CTO Zeeshan reaffirmed the department’s commitment to facilitating the public while maintaining order and discipline during the holy month.
