ISLAMABAD, Jul 08 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) impounded over 1,500 vehicles, issued 2,700+ challans for illegal parking, and registered 112 FIRs during a recent special enforcement campaign launched to curb violations under a zero-tolerance policy.
An official told APP on Tuesday that 1,119 motorcycles and 412 vehicles were shifted to police stations during the campaign for serious traffic rule violations, including driving without valid documents and endangering public safety.
He said ITP also utilized drone technology to monitor traffic flow and road violations, which led to fines against 48 drivers caught committing various offenses.
He said 845 motorists were fined for lane violations, 76 for driving without a license, 11 for triple riding, and 23 underage drivers were penalized during the campaign.
He said wrong-way driving resulted in 923 challans, while 1,007 riders were fined for not wearing helmets, and 2,766 tickets were issued for illegal parking.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Captain (R) Syed Zeeshan Haider, directed officers to continue strict enforcement without discrimination and maintain the zero-tolerance approach to ensure discipline on roads.
“No one should be allowed to drive without a valid license,” CTO said, urging citizens to cooperate with traffic personnel for safe and smooth commuting across the city
