ITP announces traffic diversions for marathon

ISLAMABAD, Jan 24 (APP):Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) have announced a comprehensive traffic diversion plan in connection with a marathon race to be held from F-9 Park to D-Chowk via Jinnah Avenue on January 25, 2026, to ensure smooth traffic flow and public convenience in the federal capital.
An ITP official told APP on Saturday that traffic diversions will remain in place from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and motorists are advised to follow the designated alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.
He said the marathon will start from 12 Dari, F-9 Park, proceed via F-10 Gate, Jinnah Avenue, reach D-Chowk, and return through Jinnah Avenue, turning right at Tayyab Erdogan Flyover onto Ninth Avenue, re-entering F-9 Park through its gate and concluding at 12 Dari, F-9 Park through the internal side of the park.
The official added that the full marathon distance is 42 kilometres, while the half marathon covers 21 kilometres.
He said Jinnah Avenue from F-9 Park to D-Chowk (DC Complex) will remain completely closed for single-side traffic during the event.
Traffic diversions and alternative routes are as follows:
Front of Devatson, F-10 Pakistan Chowk towards F-10 Roundabout:
Traffic will be diverted.
Alternative: E-11 Chowk, Margalla Road, Ninth Avenue, Tayyab Erdogan Flyover, Jinnah Avenue or Ibn-e-Sina Road.
F-10 Roundabout towards Centaurus Mall (Jinnah Avenue):
Traffic diversion in place.
Alternative: Ibn-e-Sina Road, Ninth Avenue towards Peshawar Mor Flyover, Faisal Avenue, Margalla Road.
F-10 Two Roundabout U-Turn:
Traffic diversion in place.
Alternative: Ibn-e-Sina Road, Ninth Avenue, Peshawar Mor Flyover, Faisal Avenue, Margalla Road.
G-10 Two Chowk towards F-10 Roundabout (Jinnah Avenue):
Traffic will be diverted.
Alternative: Ibn-e-Sina Road, Ninth Avenue, Peshawar Mor Flyover, Srinagar Highway, Faisal Avenue.
PARC Chowk towards Shaheen Chowk (Ninth Avenue):
Traffic diversion in place.
Alternative: Ibn-e-Sina Road, Faisal Avenue, Peshawar Mor Flyover via Srinagar Highway.
Shaheen Chowk towards Tayyab Erdogan Flyover (Ninth Avenue):
Traffic will be diverted.
Alternative: Margalla Road, Faisal Chowk, Faisal Avenue, F-8 Service Road, Nazimuddin Road, Kaghan Road.
Ninth Avenue U-Turn in front of F-9 Park Gate No. 4:
Traffic diversion in place.
Alternative: F-8 Service Road, Kohistan Road, Nazimuddin Road, Kaghan Road, Margalla Road.
F-8 Exchange towards Jinnah Avenue:
Traffic will be diverted.
Alternative: Johar Chowk, Nazimuddin Road, Kohistan Road, Kaghan Road, Faisal Avenue.
PIMS Loop towards Khayaban Loop:
Traffic diversion in place.
Alternative: Khayaban Underpass, Faisal Avenue, Ibn-e-Sina Road.
F-7 Corner Loop towards Jinnah Avenue, Blue Area:
Traffic will be diverted.
Alternative: Faisal Avenue, Khayaban Underpass, G-7 Two Loop, Fazl-e-Haq Road.
Ufone Tower, Saudi Pak Tower, Attock Pump and PSO Pump towards Jinnah Avenue, Blue Area:
Traffic diversions in place.
Alternative: Nazimuddin Road, Margalla Road, Faisal Avenue, Khayaban Underpass, G-7 Two Loop to Fazl-e-Haq Road.
Kulsoom Plaza, Nazimuddin Road towards Jinnah Avenue:
Traffic diversion in place.
Alternative: Kulsoom Plaza Underpass, Nazimuddin Road, Margalla Road, Faisal Avenue, Khayaban Underpass.
China Chowk (Jinnah Avenue / Nazimuddin Road):
Traffic will be diverted.
Alternative: China Chowk Underpass, Seventh Avenue, Fazl-e-Haq Road.
Nazimuddin Road T-Cross towards Express Chowk / D-Chowk:
Traffic diversion in place.
Alternative: Constitution Avenue, Nazimuddin Road, Margalla Road, Faisal Avenue, Khayaban Underpass.
Geo Chowk towards Express Chowk:
Traffic diversion in place.
Alternative: Fazl-e-Haq Road, Luqman Hakim Road.
D-Chowk towards Express Chowk:
Traffic diversion in place.
Alternative: Constitution Avenue, Abpara, Suharwardy Road, Srinagar Highway, Margalla Road.
The official said Islamabad Traffic Police officers will be deployed on all major routes to facilitate road users and manage traffic efficiently throughout the event.
