QUETTA, Jan 07 (APP):Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Balochistan General Secretary and Member of the National Assembly Jamal Shah Kakar has said that the recent visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to China will further strengthen the enduring Pakistan-China friendship and open new avenues of bilateral cooperation, ensuring that this historic relationship remains strong for generations to come.
In an exclusive conversation with APP, Jamal Shah Kakar said both countries agreed to move forward with the upgraded phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), known as CPEC 2.0. He explained that the new phase will focus on three key sectors including industry, agriculture and minerals.
These areas, he noted, are expected to play a transformative role in Pakistan’s economic development.
Highlighting the importance of Balochistan, Jamal Shah Kakar said the province particularly Gwadar has been given central importance under CPEC.
He noted that the construction and full operationalization of Gwadar Port, establishment of industrial zones, creation of employment opportunities for local people, and improvements in logistics and transportation systems would significantly accelerate Balochistan’s economic growth.
MNA Jamal Shah Kakar further added that the improvement and smooth flow of traffic on the Karakoram Highway would enhance trade activities and substantially strengthen Pakistan’s capacity for sustainable development.
Under CPEC 2.0, Kakar added, Balochistan will witness new investment opportunities in energy, infrastructure, education and health.
These developments, he said, will help improve the overall standard of living for the people of the province.
Expressing optimism, Jamal Shah Kakar said the new phase of Pak-China cooperation would play a key role in steering Balochistan towards prosperity, while further deepening the strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.
