SARGODHGA, Jan 08 (APP):An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Sargodhga Division Shaukat Ali regarding the Rivers Department, in which officers gave a detailed briefing on the overall performance of the department and ongoing development projects.
The meeting was also informed about the water rate, ongoing development works and their results. Commissioner Shaukat Ali directed that effective beautification measures should be taken along the northern canal passing through the city so that the urban environment could be improved.
He stressed on making the recovery of the waterways effective and directed the Revenue Department to improve the assessment process. The meeting reviewed the preparations made in advance before the flood season in detail, especially the situation of the river safety bunds.
Commissioner Shaukat Ali clearly directed that wherever weak spots are identified, safety embankments should be strengthened immediately and necessary steps should be completed so that all safety arrangements can be effectively ensured before the flood season.
The Commissioner said in his address that advance planning is essential to deal with the flood situation and any kind of negligence will be unacceptable. He further said that in accordance with the requirements of the digital age, farmers should be encouraged to make timely payments through modern digital apps so that transparency and convenience are increased.
