Int’l seminar held celebrating 75 years of Pak-China friendship – reflection, realities, & vision ahead

QUETTA, Dec 18 (APP):The China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) Center of Excellence, BUITEMS, and the Balochistan Think Tank Network (BTTN) jointly organized a One-Day International Seminar celebrating the 75 years of Pak-China relations on Thursday.
The seminar was marked by the presence of both local and international experts, each of whom added enriching insights into the discussion.
Harsa Kakar, Research Assistant at BTTN, moderated the Seminar, Prof. Dr. Mirwais Kasi, Pro Vice Chancellor, BUITEMS, presented the opening remarks, and Dr. Zafar Khan, Executive Director, BTTN, delivered the keynote speech. The seminar was divided into two sessions, which were chaired by Dr. Siraj Bashir, Director of Research, BTTN, and Dr. Aurangzaib Alamgir, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, BUITEMS.
Among the speakers in the first session were Dr. Aziz Ahmed, Chair of the Economics Department at BUITEMS; Asadullah Raisani, Research Officer at BTTN; Dr. Zhang Jiegen, Director of the Pakistan Study Center at Fudan University; and Dr. Zhang Jiamei, Vice Dean of the Department of South Asian Studies at Peking University, China. The speakers spoke on a wide variety of topics, including the challenges and the road to economic transformation, keeping pace with technological advancement, China-Pakistan cooperation in the higher education sector, and cooperation through cultural connectivity.
The second session was marked by speakers such as Dr. Hidayatullah, Assistant Professor of IR at BUITEMS; Dr. Guo Xuetang from China; and Shah Meer, Research Assistant at BTTN.
They spoke on the importance of the Pak-China Strategic Partnership for Regional Stability, Pakistan-China Cooperation within the SCO and the BRICS+, and China’s Vision 2049 and Pakistan’s place in China’s global strategy.
Dr. Hafeez Jamali, DG of the Balochistan Public Service Commission, served as the Guest of Honor, while the Vice Chancellor of BUITEMS, Dr. Khalid Hafeez, served as the Chief Guest. The program was concluded with the commitment to put into practice the aspirations of CPEC and the China-Pakistan strategic partnership.
