RAWALPINDI, Oct 23 (APP):The Department of Computer Arts at Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU), Rawalpindi, successfully concluded its Three-Day International Interdisciplinary Design Conference titled “Design Futures: Culture, Technology & Sustainability.”
The three day conference featured presentation of academic papers, panel discussions and interactive sessions led by distinguished national and international speakers.
The event, held under the esteemed patronage of Prof. Dr. Sarwat Rasul, Dean Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), and the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (T.I.), Vice Chancellor, FJWU, which was attended by community of artists, educators, researchers, and professionals from Pakistan and abroad.
During the closing ceremony faculty, students and participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage in critical discourse that connects academia with global design practices.
In her closing remarks, Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza, VC commended the Department of Computer Arts for organizing a meaningful and intellectually stimulating event that highlights FJWU’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and sustainable development. She emphasized the importance of creative collaboration and interdisciplinary research in shaping the future of design education.
The conference concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Dr. Sarwat Rasul, acknowledging the contributions of speakers, organizers, and participants who made the event a success.
The inaugural session was chaired by Ahsan Taqveem, Digital and Multimedia Artist, Canada (online), and co-chaired by Dr. Qaiser Khan, Foundation University, Islamabad. Scholars including Nabiha Durrani (INTI International University, Malaysia), Afshan Jamal, and Sadaf Hammad shared insights into global design narratives, creative education, and the integration of traditional aesthetics with digital innovation.
Different sessions were chaired by Dr. Shafia Azam, Associate Professor, FJWU, and co-chaired by Sajjad Gul, Content Head, PTV. Presentations by Dr. Uzma Imtiaz, Mehvish Muzaffar, Darakhshan Batool, Nuzhat Bashir, and Aurang Khan explored themes such as user-centered design, digital storytelling, and the role of visual communication in fostering cultural awareness.
