ATTOCK, Jan 9 (APP):Attock Police on Friday have foiled an inter-provincial drug smuggling attempt by seizing 12 kilograms of hashish concealed in packets of cat food and arresting a suspected trafficker.
According to police sources, the operation was carried out during routine checking near Search Park in Attock Khurd, within the jurisdiction of Hazro tehsil.
A Hiace van was intercepted, and upon searching the luggage of a suspicious passenger, police discovered 10 packets of hashish cleverly hidden inside cat food packages. The recovered contraband weighed 12 kilograms.
The arrested suspect was identified as Hazrat Bilal, son of Mir Syed, a resident of Bara, Khyber district. Police said the accused was attempting to smuggle the narcotics from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa into Punjab by disguising them as animal feed to evade detection.
A case has been registered against the suspect under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act at Attock Khurd police station, and further investigation is underway.
