FAISALABAD, Nov 05 (APP): University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zulfiqar Ali has called for developing out-of-the-box solutions and flourish agricultural advancement in order to address the woes of farming community, raise production and minimize the cost of production that will help lower down import bill and ensure food security.
Chairing UAF Senate meeting, he said that in today’s rapidly evolving world and ever-increasing population, food security has become one of the major challenges.
He urged the scientists to translate scientific knowledge into practical solutions that ensure sustainable food security. He said that our scientists are working hard to introduce modern agricultural practices to replace those with traditional ones.
He noted that innovation is the backbone of agricultural development. He said that university is fostering academia-industry linkages so that advanced technologies can reach our fields and farmers on time.
He said that precision agriculture is no longer an option but it is a necessity. He said that we must adopt technologies that help us get maximum outputs by using minimum resources.
He said that by equipping farmers with timely trainings, modern agricultural methods and access to research we can increase their capacity and get maximum profit.
Registrar Dr Asif Kamran presented the agenda of the meeting and Treasurer Zeeshan Ishfaq Bukhary presented the budget estimates.
The House gave the nod to budget estimates for the Financial Year 2025-26 worth Rs. 11,461.867 million.
The estimates include Non-development Rs. 9,143.418 million; non-development Government of Punjab Constituent College Burewala Rs 335.046 million, Water management Research Center Rs 39.504 million, Development (PSDP Project) Rs 1287.984 million and Development (ADP Funded) Rs 655.915.
