MULTAN, Sep 26 (APP):Speakers at Corporate Conference underscored the critical importance of embracing modernization and innovation in business while prioritizing people -centric development especially in uncertain times, at local hotel on Monday late night.
The event which brought together various prominent figures from different sectors also highlighted role of professional accountants in effectively managing business affairs.
Addressing the audience, Senator Waleed Iqbal delivered an impassioned keynote speech, emphasizing the key qualities required for success in today’s uncertain business landscape. ” He stressed the need for a focus on human development.
“We must put people first and strive for their improved living standards.” He pointed out that the UN Declaration of 1986 places immense focus on the Right to Development, a basic right of all people, advocating for equal rights in social and economic uplift.
Senator Iqbal called upon corporate entities to prioritize inclusive and participatory development, condemning gender and race discrimination in the pursuit of sustainable progress.
He cited China’s remarkable achievement in lifting 800 million people out of poverty through inclusive development as a shining example. Asad Hameed, representing the ACCA organization, shed light on the untapped development potential of South Punjab, describing it as a vital economic hub.
He emphasized the region’s rich civilization and its strategic significance for national development as it borders KPK, Balochistan and Sindh.
Hameed called for the empowerment of youth with skills to drive the region’s progress.
Drawing attention to opportunities in sectors such as IT, Agriculture, Digital Transformation and some other sectors, he urged greater investment and development in the areas to bolster the country’s economy.
Hameed also highlighted the alarming shortage of professional accountants in Pakistan, with only 25,000 working in various sectors, including government and private, compared to global statistics. He lamented the fact that a country with over 240 million people had such a low number of accountants, contrasting it with Ireland, which has a population of five million but has over 50,000 professional accountants serving in various organizations.
Umar Baig, CEOs Mukhtar A. Shiekh of the Welfare Memorial Hospital, Khusro Mumtaz of Infrazamin Corporate Sector, and Mian Rashid Iqbal, President of the Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, contributed valuable insights on various aspects of business. They highlighted the critical importance of maintaining a clean and sustainable environment and urged the corporate sector to take a proactive role in environmental conservation.
Emphasizing the challenges of climate change, they called upon businesses to work towards a greener environment.
