PESHAWAR, Jul 30 (APP):On the special directives of the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Forests, Wildlife, Environment and Climate Change, Pir Musawar Khan, operations against illegal timber smuggling continue across the province.
In a recent successful action, the staff of Torghar Forest Division intercepted a timber smuggling attempt near Dand Mirah on the main Judba road late last night.
During the operation, officials seized 750 cubic feet of valuable Deodar (cedar) wood from a dumper truck.
The driver was unable to present valid legal documents for the timber, leading to his arrest. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the suspect, while both the confiscated wood and the vehicle have been taken into official custody.
Pir Musawar Khan appreciated the swift and effective action of the Forest Department staff and reiterated his commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against the illegal transportation of timber.
He further directed that strict surveillance be maintained at all forest check posts to prevent such activities in the future.
