KHANEWAL, Sep 08 (APP):The agriculture department has recovered an ample quantity of Urea fertilizer illegally stocked to sell to farmers on high prices in a raid conducted at Kukarhatta area of Kabirwala on Friday.
In line with special directives of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Wasim Hamid Sandhu, the Deputy Director Agriculture (extension) Muhammad Iqbal Niazi along with Assistant Commissioner Kabirwala Mohsin Alam and Assistant Director Agriculture Dr Manzoor Ahmed raided a godown situated inside the Toheed Iron Store Kukarhatta. The team recovered an illegal stock of fertilizer worth over Rs two million to sell to farmers on high prices against the controlled rates.
The team said that the recovered fertilizer would be offered to farmers at controlled rates while an FIR has been registered against the owner with the concerned police station.
The DC Wasim Hamid Sandhu said that the district administration tightened the noose around the hoarders of fertilizers and the dealers involved in selling fake pesticides and fertilizers to farmers. He said that zero-tolerance policy was being followed against the hoarding of commodities.
