GUJRAT, Jun 23 (APP):The Environment Protection Agency (EPA) Gujrat demolished an illegal fat melting unit in Jalalpur Jattan for violating environmental regulations.
According to official sources, the action was taken on the directions of District Officer Environment Usama Majid with the assistance of the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) Gujrat.
The Ashraf Fat Melting Unit was found operating without legal authorization and was causing environmental pollution, besides generating public complaints in the area.
Officials said the unit was dismantled and its machinery removed to ensure the closure of the illegal operation. They added that strict action would continue against units violating environmental laws to protect public health and the environment.
