ISLAMABAD, Oct 21 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday stayed the auction of Zulfi Bukhari’s property and also sought comments from National Accountability Bureau (NAB) against the petition.
The division bench also sought the complete record of the property auction from anti-graft body.
A division bench, comprising Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Justice Inaam Ameen Minhas heard the case against auction of Zulfi Bukhari’s property. Senior lawyer Dr. Babar Awan Advocate appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioner.
Durinng hearing, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir inquired whether the auction has been done? What is the status now? Babar Awan Advocate said “the auction process is underway but we have not been issued any notice. We came to know from the auction advertisement, but no documents have been revealed about who bought the property.”
The court inquired whether the property has been divided? Babar Awan Advocate took the position that “there are about 2100 kanals of joint land which has not been divided as yet, there are other owners too and I am only Sakina Bukhari’s lawyer.”
The court issued a notice to NAB and sought a response by a future date. The court adjourned the hearing of the case until the third week of November.
Zulfi Bukhari’s sister filed a petition through Babar Awan in which the position was taken that the property cannot be auctioned before it is divided among the sisters.
The accountability court had rejected the petition against the auction of Syeda Sakina Bukhari’s property.
The decision was challenged before the IHC.
